For our time in Tuscany we decided to make Prato our home base. It's a smaller city just outside Florence, and it has a lot of history in fashion and fabric, for my mom. As we drove in from the motorway I was more than a bit sceptical. Once we parked the car and walked into the old town area I quickly changed my tune. Its wonderful here, no tourists, lots of great bars and restaurants, and look at where we are staying! We are just steps away from the main square. I am currently sitting in the loggia listening to church bells. My mom is off with our hosts visiting the university and a professor who specializes in fabric dyes.
