Once a month the storefronts just off the Venice boardwalk prove that they are more than head shops and tourist friendly pizza joints. Exposing themselves as what they are truly meant to be, art galleries. This third Thursday was my first as a local resident. Just minutes away from my house I strolled through retail spaces I previously thought were just waiting to be leased as a bike rental shops. Usually intimidating after dark, Winward circle was a place full of friendly faces. From Hotel Erwin to a private gallery across from Nikki's we saw some amazing work. My favorite was the hardest to capture by still photo, a mysterious musician playing the keytar on a rooftop that controlled projections shown on the street.
